Dear Hillsborough County Florida Legislative Delegation:

Please consider supporting HB 105, HB 659, and HB 389.  If possible, we ask that you sign on as co-sponsors of these three very important pieces of legislation.

HEALTH INSURANCE SUPPLEMENT
HB 105 by Representative Bob Allen would incrementally increase the Health Insurance Supplement for retirees who qualify for FRS from $5 to $7 for each year of service up to a maximum of 30 years.  Representatives Ausley, Brandenburg, and Richardson are cosponsors of this Bill.  HB 105 has already unanimously passed the Government Operations committee and is scheduled next to go to Fiscal Council and then on to the State Administration Council.  The Senate has a companion Bill SB 442 by Senator Alfred Lawson and is co-sponsored by Argenziano and Bennet.  Senate Bill 442 has already passed unanimously by the Government and Oversight and Productivity committee and has one final stop at the Ways & Means Committee.

DROP
HB 659 by Representative Ralph Arza would extend the DROP program to school administrators for an additional three years similar to what the law presently allows for teachers.  This Bill has been assigned to Government Operations, Fiscal Council, and State Administration Council.  The Senate has a companion Bill SB 1064 by Senator Charlie Clary and Co-Sponsored by Senator Evelyn Lynn.  Senate Bill 1064 has already passed unanimously by the Education Committee and will go next to the Government and Oversight & Productivity and Ways and Means committees.

REHIRE AFTER RETIREMENT
HB 389 by Representative Bill Proctor would allow school administrators to be re-employed one month after retiring, similar to what the law presently allows for teachers.  This Bill has been assigned to Pre-K, Educations Appropriations, and Education Council committees.  The senate has a companion Bill SB 102 by Senator Stephen Wise and co-sponsored by Senator James King.  SB 102 has already passed unanimously by the Education Committee and is scheduled to go to Rules & Calendar and the Ways and Means committees.
