HASA does not endorse candidates for
the School Board or local City and County races. Supporting
candidates financially is important, but more important is to show
them support by personal help such as "Walking Neighborhoods",
"Waving Signs at Voting Sites", "Distributing Signs and Bumper
Stickers", etc. These are the type of personal commitments that
help to build real relationships with legislators. We can also
telephone our family members, friends , and neighbors to tell them
that we support the candidates we have endorsed. Call them again a
day or two before election day on November 7th. I urge you to do
what you can.
Please read the message below from Michelle Boylan, Campaign Manager
for Kevin Ambler.
Thank you,
JOHN MILIZIANO
HASA Executive Director.
Dear friends, volunteers, and supporters:
Now that the primaries are over, we are off and running
and have several exciting events coming your way for the
final phase of the campaign.
Foremost, we would like to thank you for your dedication
and support. With your help, our re-election efforts so
far have been a success, however, there is much more to
do before election day on November 7th. We hope you can
join us for the final
push to victory!
Upcoming campaign activities:
MEGA-WALKS: Every Saturday morning until the
election we will be holding our door to door voter reach
out neighborhood walks from 10:30 am to 2 pm. The
dates are October 7, October 14, October 21 and November
4. We will meet at: Einstein Bagels, 10802 N. Dale
Mabry
- 10:30 a.m. T-shirts and and walk-list packages, and
cold bottled water will be ready for pickup. Kevin will
be buying coffee and bagels for all volunteer walkers.
So, come out on as many Saturdays as you can and join in
the fun. At 2 pm, everyone will turn in their walk
sheets at Sonny's BBQ on Dale Mabry just south of
Northdale Blvd. Kevin will be buying lunch. Please pass
on to your friends, family and campaign supporters. This
is the most important part of our
grass roots campaign.
SIGN WAVERS AT VOTING SITES. On Election Day,
November 7, we are in need of sign wavers at the polls.
There are three shifts: 6:45 am to 9:00 am, 11:30 am to
1:30 pm and 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm (polls close). You can
sign up for one, two or all three shifts. Please fill
free to let me know if you have a preference for a
particular time and voting site.
YARD SIGNS AND BUMPER STICKERS. Also, we have
yard signs (if your neighborhood allows it) and
removable vinyl car window decals (instead of the old
bumper stickers) if you would like one. Research shows
that yard signs and bumper stickers are one of the most
effective and simple ways to show your support for a
candidate. That research shows that each bumper sticker
is worth at least 7 votes. If that is only half true
and if all of you put one bumper sticker on each of your
cars, that could be enough votes right there to win the
election. Visibly showing your support really does make
a difference. Just call Michelle and we will deliver
them to you.
Also, if you know someone who has a business in the
northwest part of the county on well traveled road that
would be willing to let us put up a larger campaign sign
on the property (we have 2x4 and 4x8 signs), please let
us know right away who they are and the location where
we can put up the sign.
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION PARTY ON ELECTION NIGHT: Our
traditional election night volunteer appreciation party
will begin at 7:30 pm at the Winner's Grill on Gunn
Hwy (in the shopping center at the northwest corner of
Gunn and Anderson). Complementary food and beverages
for all campaign volunteers, big screen T.V.s with
election night results and a good old good time will be
had by all.
Please email or call Michelle Boylan, Campaign Manager,
if you are able to help.
