A very important Bill is before the Senate
Governmental Oversight Committee. We need you to phone or
email
as many
of the committee members as possible, and ask them to support this
bill. Be sure to
contact Senator Jim Sebesta, the senator from Hillsborough County.
Use the information provided below when you contact them.
Specifically, the bill increases the health insurance subsidy to a
maximum of $210 per month ($7 per month for each year of creditable
service).
This is our chance to do something important. It only takes a few
minutes.

Bill 2266
Senate Bill 2266 increases the Health Insurance
Subsidy from $5 per month, per year of creditable service to
$7 per month and allows for an annual 3% cost-of-living
adjustment. With the initial increase, the monthly subsidy would
increase to a maximum of $210. SB2266

establishes an employment benefit that will enable Florida to compete favorably with other
states for prospective educators.

creates an incentive to retain effective public school personnel.

does not require the State to expend additional State revenues.

would be funded from increasing employer contributions by increasing these payments from
1.11% to 1.56% per month.
