Mary Cunningham
2007-2008 President

It is a privilege and an honor to have been selected to serve as the HASA president for the coming 2007-2008 school year.  I look forward to working with the representatives from the thirteen component groups.  In June we met to establish goals - some lofty and some more easily obtained.  I believe that by working together we can accomplish many of our goals this year.

I look forward to working with Mrs. Elia and her staff to meet some of the goals this year.  Communication is important between her office and the HASA members.  I will strive to work cooperatively with the Superintendent's Office in order to promote our agenda.

I do look forward to representing HASA at different functions.  Recently, Past President Lou Cerreta and I were present as HASA Representatives at Governor Crist's signing of the "There Ought To Be A Law" act.  High school students proposed a law and traveled to Tallahassee to lobby for its passage.  Along the way, they were able to experience the process of how a Bill becomes a law.  HASA provided considerable moral and financial

support for the program.  Several HASA members were present in Tallahassee when the Bill was introduced in committee.

I look forward to meeting and developing relationships among the Hillsborough Legislative delegation.  This is a priority the HASA Board has identified.  I urge all HASA members to do the same.

Finally, I look forward to a fun year working with the HASA Executive and Representative Boards.  I will learn many new things - but I will enjoy the learning experience!  Please join me this year and together we will make a difference.
