Jason Pepe (treasurer) and myself. The representative board
consists of 13 component groups as well as chairmen of each of the
various committees, and each representative welcomes
addressing your comments and concerns at our monthly meetings. I
am honored to lead this cohesive, vibrant group.
Two of HASA’s short-term goals for this year have been met: an
orientation workshop (held in June) and an installation ceremony
of officers and representatives by former Superintendent Dr. Earl
Lennard (held in August). Additionally this year, we wish to
expand our business partners’ involvement; increase the
involvement of more minority groups with active participation on
our committees and in attending our yearly social events; and at
the appropriate time, revisit the salary study initiative.
Two of our yearly Fall activities, the membership drive, organized
as a HASA “phonathon” to recruit new members, has been zealously
supported via one of our business partners, Bryn Alan Studios,
and the Fall Social, held at Higgins Hall, have proven
precedential success! Both endeavors are excellent opportunities
to reach out and embrace our members, share general and pertinent
information, and build stronger relationships as we work to
achieve our goals.
At the writing of this message, Hillsborough County School
district is on the verge of receiving a very important grant (the
Gates Grant) that will open up a wealth of educational enhancement
for the district. More details will later be unfolded via our
Superintendent.
Aldous Huxley once said: “Experience is
not what happens to you. It is what you do with what happens to
you.” May all of your experiences for this year be prosperous and
fulfilling!
